ABSTRACT

Endogenous endophthalmitis due to Candida albicans is an uncommon but severe intraocular infection, typically resulting from hematogenous dissemination of pathogens from distant septic foci. It represents a serious manifestation of candidemia and may be associated with occult sources such as infective endocarditis. Diagnosis is often delayed due to nonspecific symptoms and the limited sensitivity of blood cultures. We report the case of a 42-year-old female who developed endogenous endophthalmitis secondary to Candida albicans endocarditis following urinary tract manipulation.
