ABSTRACT
Digital health interventions (DHI) are expected to improve quality and efficiency in cardiovascular care, but not without risk. In particular, DHI fuelled with artificial intelligence (AI) have the potential to improve treatment and monitoring, training methods, and communication tools, and democratize the healthcare system by empowering patients, but might also worsen the conditions for already underserved groups and weaken the contact between healthcare personnel and patients. This discussion paper presents process-oriented approaches for managing ethical risks in practice and shows how ethical risk management can be used to balance the risks and benefits of DHI with AI in cardiovascular care.
