ABSTRACT

PET myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) provides excellent diagnostic and prognostic performance for ischemic heart disease. It offers multiparametric evaluation of myocardial perfusion, left ventricular function at rest and peak stress, coronary calcium (on PET/computed tomography scanners), and myocardial blood flow, which can diagnose epicardial and microvascular coronary disease, stratify risk, and guide management patients with known or suspected ischemic heart disease. The purpose of this article is to deliver a practical approach of PET MPI techniques and interpretation.
