ABSTRACT
Carotid artery stenting is an effective method for treating stenotic lesions of the carotid arteries and preventing stroke. However, despite continuous technological advancements in stents and neuroprotection systems, the procedure carries the risk of complications that can affect clinical outcomes. This article provides a review of the literature on complications associated with carotid artery stenting, their classification, risk factors, clinical manifestations, prevention and management strategies, as well as the authors' own experience in endovascular treatment of patients with stenotic carotid artery lesions at the Department of Endovascular Surgery and Invasive Cardiology of the 'Central Clinical Hospital with Polyclinic' of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation.
