ABSTRACT
We present the case of a patient with a giant pseudoaneurysm in the left ventricular anterolateral wall and hemorrhagic pericardial effusion extending to the aortic arch. The patient survived after emergency aneurysmectomy and closure with a bovine pericardial patch. The pseudoaneurysm was a late complication of perimyocarditis with atypical clinical manifestations (traumatic syncope in the absence of fever). This case report is interesting because it describes a rare but possible complication of perimyocarditis and underlines the importance of multimodality imaging in the differential diagnosis between aneurysm and pseudoaneurysm.
